Faith Kipyegon secures historic third consecutive Olympic 1500m gold
Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon has etched her name in Kenyan and Olympic history by securing her third consecutive gold medal in the 1500m at the Paris Olympics.
Kipyegon, the reigning champion, achieved this milestone with a commanding finish of 3:51.29, making her the first woman to win three Olympic titles in the 1500m event.
The victory adds to an impressive list of achievements that includes two Olympic golds (2016, 2021) and multiple World Championship medals - gold in 2017 and 2022, and silver in 2015 and 2019.
Kipyegon’s exceptional performance this year also saw her break world records in the 1500m (3:49.11 in Florence), 5000m (14:05.20 in Paris), and the mile (4:07.64 in Monaco).
Jessica Hull of Australia finished in second place, while Great Britain’s Georgia Bell made the podium with a third place finish.
