The plan which was unveiled during a high-level summit in Abuja highlighted government’s strategy to boost its global competitiveness through technology and sustainable development.
Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology Chief Uche Nnaji stated the three strategies as; strengthening institutional frameworks, fostering public-private partnerships, and investing in human capital.
The strategy according to him, will foster a system that will combine academia, industry, government, and community efforts.
“Our vision for Nigeria is to become a hub for African innovation, contributing significantly to the global knowledge economy. We aim to bring all the research we have on our shelves to light and develop them. This is the central focus of my role as Minister. This is our primary objective,” Nnaji was quoted by Vanguard.
The high-level summit which was themed, “Advancing Nigeria’s Global Competitiveness Through a Resilient National RDI Coordination” was held in Abuja, Nigeria on March 26.
